Moray Eel Bites Off Diver's Thumb

Here you go.......not the best picture but.......

The one that took the thumb is on the right. Everyone says he was very friendly - as you can see in the video actually. He just made a mistake. There's not a lot of difference between a thumb and a sausage for a moray.....

Finally had a chance to view this on my laptop. I hate to say it, but the accident was "well deserved." Very foolish behavior on the part of the diver.

A few thoughts / questions:

I think the guy was lucky that the moray did not swim up his trunks and take a bit out of something else.

Are morays edible? I read differing accounts on this.

Finally, why did they not bring the eel to the surface and cut out the thumb?

Don't know if that has been here already. Please consider if you really want to see that movie, I found it hard to watch it.
Feeding Moray Eel is very common in Thailand and always entertaining.....
When you see the beginning it really looks funny, but.......

I have no evidence if it was really in Thailand, but the tatoo on one divers arm is in thai language.
