To many reindeer games to read all the postings but a substantial amount of money is owed to employees and not to mention has anyone addressed the real fraudulent activities that have happened. Real laws have been broken and the owner needs to have her instructor cert. pulled so that she does not endanger any more new students by not having insured dive professionals. She took in money from her divemasters and instructors to maintain their insurance and then did not fully renew their insurance. The instructors and DMs thought they were insured and really were not. The instructors and DMs took students into the water not knowing they were not insured. The owner needs to realize what type of risks she is taking with other peoples lives those are real risks.

I can understand that the insurance was through the shop and that anyone who paid that insurance doesn't have anything coming back, but you're saying that the insurance WAS NOT PAID, and that the instructors and DM's were running "bare"?

That means also that they were not certified with the certifying agency, since one of the requirements is to have valid insurance (at least with PADI, that's true).

If you don't mind, would you clarify that?

I am reminded of a situation when the Menendez brothers went on trial for killing their parents. After they were found guilty, one of the talking heads on TV said that this case was so bizarre, and the spotlight was on everything else but the criminals, that he didn't doubt that the defense strategy during the penalty phase would be to beg the court to have pity on them because they'd just lost their parents.
Somehow, this situation made me think of that.

Look into it! The insurance was not paid and that the instructors and DMs may have been running bare! Not to mention fraudulent business deals. If this concerns you and anyone who was a DM or instructor there needs to check this out!

Most agencies require proof of insured status prior to renewing professional certs. This means if they truly weren't insured then they wouldn't have been able to issue dive certifications to students. Unless what you're stating is something that just happened last month with renewals, I really doubt this is the case. Also, AFAIK professional dive insurance is not mandated by law. It's an industry thing. So what laws are you referring to?

It was something that happened within the last month or so the money was taken in by the owner put on a payment plan through the Phoenix Shop then the Phoenix shop closed. The money the owner took was to pay the insurance for the year and she did not do that. The pics were not run because she owes PADI money so the divers might not have been certified but they were taken into the water. The insurance is just something to look into and to make sure if you are taking students into the water with this person or going into the water with this person to be aware. She takes money in for merchandise or services and the money is not used for what she says it is.
The owner is fraudulent on how she has not paid her employees, some for many months, and written checks she knew would bounce and continued to enter business deals she knew were unlawful. Her unlawful activities is, she is taking in money that seems to disappear into thin air. It is against the law to not pay your employees. I am not talking about a couple hundred dollars I am talking in excess of THOUSANDS of dollars. That is against the law.

Hmm... why not just ask this person/people to come on and clarify what actually happened?
