I'm a Fish!
I am thinking of upgrading from my Ranger to the OMS IQ and eventually get a back plate for it also. Does anyone have any experience with the IQ?

If you know you are going to the BP/W eventually, why not just do it now and save the time and money? There are several for sale in the classifieds right now at good prices.

I looked through there and didn't see any BP's. I didn't even see any OMS gear.

I have the OMS IQ Pack. I have found that one only thing that is bad about it , is that when u go to take ur doubles off the dive boat ur back gets wet.lol. Its a great harness, i dive with it all the time, i would say get a backplate. Its good because you can use all tanks with it. And there are lots of adjusments to be made. I just dove the forest city in toberymory and it came in handy when you have lots of gear and u go to get back on the boat you dont feel the screws or the webbing doesnt hurt your shoulders. One thing i did change on it was the 2 d rings on the side, i replaced them with 2 90 degree d rings so that why would stay still. This is a great harness for both rec and tec, and i would say 343 times better then the transpack.

I too had one but never dove it. I took it back to the LDS. My wing (oxycheq) would not work correctly with it and I was going to HAVE to use a STA with the wing. My stainless backplate didn't fit into the IQ pack so instead of buying an OMS plate I just took it back and bought a DiveRite transplate harness.

The IQ fit really well and if I was in the situation again I would just have bought the OMS plate to insert in the IQ Pack.

Thanks for the input fellas. I think I got my hands on the IQ... now just need the BP.

Another question you IQ Vets can maybe help me out with. The one I am about to buy is a M/L and I am right on the border of XS/S and M/L being 5'7" 165lbs with a 34" Waist. (A little different sizing then my Zeagle Ranger) Do either of you guys come close to my measurements and if so, what size is/was yours?

I'm 5'9" but with a 40inch waist and the M/L fit me. I don't have a very large chest so the M/L fit me just right.

Thanks for the link!

The IQ is a very good little, versatile bcd/bp-wing combo. Essentially it has all the features of the bp/w with a bit more padding and comfort. It can accept a s/s backplate or can be used without.....either way, it's a piece of gear that is very functional, all-purpose that will and can grow with you as your diving style changes.
