we did our checkout dives in vortex springs and our next dives are scheduled in belize first saltwater dives should we try and find some saltwater and go diving there or just suck it up in belize worrying about weight issue how much weight should we add it will be our honeymoon and want it to go smooth

Don't worry about the water. It just tastes a bit different.

If you are comfortable with your skills in open water class, you will do fine in the ocean.

Of course, more is always better.

If your rig is the same in Belize vs Vortex springs you should need about 6lbs or so of extra weight. Just do a good weight check when you do your first dive.

Though if it were me I'd do a liveaboard trip to the Caymans in prep for your belize trip!

Agree just do your weight check there. You are about to get seriously spoiled.:D

not much to worry about really, just look forward to the major enjoyment that'll take place! as everyone said here, you can dial in your weighting there, it should not be a worry.

All the previous posts are sound advice, BUT if you have the opportunity to make another couple of dives before your honeymoon, why not do so!?!?!

This way you can get a little extra experience and work out your weighting concerns before your honeymoon, thus eliminating one more thing about which to be concerned when you get to Belize.

More diving never hurts, plus it would give you the opportunity for the two of you to refine your buddy skills and perhaps work on some underwater communication skills.

You may also find that as you are more relaxed you will actually use less weight. You probably had some rubber on at Vortex as it is a brisk cool 69 degrees.

Ask about doing a check out dive with your gear the day you get there. That way you will be prepared for the rest of the week's diving.

Good luck on your trip.

Safe dives . . . . . . . . .
. . . and safer ascents !

And the best to you in your new lives as a married couple !!!

Congrats on upcoming wedding. You are going to ruin the rest of your diving if you go to Belize. Me and a friend would go in your places.
