Hi all

I finally booked my spring vacation, am off to the Red Sea again (Hurghada) from 26 April to 7 May :)

I also spent a ton of money on my ABC stuff...I bought some Mares (pronounced "mahrez", see other thread *grin*) fins, a mask with optical lenses, snorkel, booties and a hood...I don't plan on getting a suit etc. until I am more certain about what type of diving I will be doing.

And by the time I get back, I will have my OWD :D (just missing two open water dives).

I will also be in the area, more likely 4/21-25. My travel partner is looking for a place to do his OW referral dives- with whom will you be diving? (We were initially thinking of Sharm, but we are open to Hurgadha, Sharm or Dahab...)
Thanks

Hi sea2sea

I am going back to Jasmin Diving Center (contact at eMail: info@jasmin-diving.com). I find them commercial, but on the other hand, I am only off for 11 days and they do everything like lug the diving stuff over to the boat etc....am on vac, I want to be spoiled :)

The boats are really quite nice, and the lunch you get on the boats (around Egyptian Pounds 15, payable to the cook immediately - CHEAP)is better than in the hotels.

I hear good things about Sharm el Sheikh, but it is supposedly even more crowded than Hurghada.

Dahab is mostly shore diving, but also boasts the famed Blue Hole (death trap IMHO).

My next trip, once I have my OWD, will be to Marsa Alam which is still not that crowded, but will get that way soon - they are planning to build an airport, but it isn't there yet! So that might be an option for you. On the other hand, you are only going for a few days, so Hurghada or Sharm will be more practical - spend more time diving and less travelling.

Let me know who you decide to dive with, and more importantly, when you get back, give us a detailed report of your trip.:)

What part of the Red Sea? Sharm?,Hurgadah?or where?,Sharm is like a swiming pool, Hurgadah, windy, open sea, cooler water,5 mm is fine, i never needed a hood in the any dives at Sharm, even for night dive, just a good sweat top for right after the dive. if u can give me more detailes of where in the Red Sea, I could be of more help.
P.S. Jan. 10th, water temp in sharm was 24 C.
