Rock Springs Man's Scuba-Diving Death An Accident - cbs4denver.com
ROCK SPRINGS, Wyo. (AP) ― Sweetwater County authorities have ruled the death of a Rock Springs physician who died while scuba diving in Flaming Gorge an accident.

Forty-nine-year-old Dr. Daryl Kaan (KHAN) was on a recreational dive with five others on May 8 when he didn't come to the surface. The water was about 40 degrees.

Searchers using remote-controlled equipment found Kaan's body the next day on the bottom about 115 feet down.

Sheriff Rich Haskell and Coroner Dale Majhanovich (mu-HAHN'-o-vich) say an autopsy found Kaan drowned due to cardiac failure. There was no evidence that his diving equipment had malfunctioned except for a small leak in his dry suit.

Kaan was a doctor of obstetrics and gynecology who practiced at the College Hill Women's Health Center.
