What's the mention about suicide clip ? Something wrong with the biner S clip?

It's a long running "convention" that any clip or attachment that a line can enter without deliberate intent is dangerous and will kill you. In some, very limited circumstances that might be the case. Mostly it's bushwah.

I don't have a lot of dives (around 300 solo - after OW, AOW, & those required to take the OW & solo course - SDI is a bit more stringent) but the only real entanglement danger that I have ever run into is my dive flag line. If I had needed to, I would have simply cut that and be done with it. I managed to free myself in a short time and didn't need to worry - and no clip was involved - S-Biner, suicide, or any other. In all cases it got caught up in my fin strap. So I guess Fin straps are a suicide danger and should be avoided at all costs.

See how someone's caution in extremely linited application becomes a universal (BS) rule?

I would like to show up on the boat with one of these bungied to my backplate:

Maybe i'll get the lecture about a trilobite or shears being more effective, maybe not.
