I can assure you that stuff has looong been abandoned by the Wkpp.

This is really the point. The RD and average-depth approaches may occasionally have some logistical utility (a nod to Dan P), but have been superseded by computers for efficient decompression utility. The past is over, get over it.

Rd is a still great tool in the ocean. On 20-30 minutes weenie dives it tends to line up pretty well with the tables (that was the idea).

Nah it’s fine for short stuff.

And really tables are what the team uses. I think almost everyone wears a computer but we don’t all use it. The tables are primary.

OK. Most of my dives are caves or recreational, and tables aren't very helpful in either case.

Weird that so many of us get on with tables just fine.

Most of my dives are caves and tables are more than adequate. I prefer my shearwater but I always have the tables on deck.

Here's my most recent cave dive. I would not have wanted to use tables.

Good to hear that. But historically I got it right, right? George Irvine did a lot of experiments on deco for cave dives in the WKPP, then these ideas got formalized later for classes and became RD.

Regarding the change of GF, I made this graph (40m dive with air only; but it won't look much different for deco gases):
