So, what kind of bug eats the rubber/plastic inside of a regulator?

It seems you are very familiar with crack and meth and importation methods. Perhaps a call to the DEA is in order. :rofl3:
 
@DevonDiver What do crystallized pieces of Miflex designed hose feel like? Are they hard/semi hard or soft?

@aoumi same question except related to the pieces you found coming from your regulators.

The pieces that came out were quite soft, and the ragged edges of the hole in the diaphragm roughly match the size of the pieces which were retrieved.

Yes.. I've heard it quite a few times over the years. Roaches crawl into second stages and chew on the soft rubber innards. Sometimes, they're still there at the start of a dive.

Always , always purge your reg before putting it in your mouth. Divers have learned this the hard way.
