I'm going to be in Australia next week and would like go diving if the schedule permits.

How's the diving in the Sydney area these days? What's the water temperature and how is the vis? I haven't dived in Sydney in the winter. Should I bring my drysuit or rent a wetsuit locally?

Hi Daryl

This is almity1, almitywife's hubby.

If you are from Vancouver, you might use a 3mm for Sydney :)

At the moment it is flat and clear to 15meter viz

Water temp average 16 deg Celsius

Bring your dry suit or a 5mm or rent if you like whatever you prefer.

I prefer to bring my own gear.

Cheers

Thanks for the reply.

I'm from Vancouver, but I'm a wuss when it comes to cold water. Water would have to be a lot warmer than 15C before I'd wear a 3mm wetsuit.

I used a 5mm fullsuit with a 5mm sleeveless hooded vest when I dove in Sydney in December, but the water was warmer. Maybe I'll bring the drysuit so I can stay nice and toasty. :D

im a warm water wuss, so no winter diving for me unless its the tropics - if i was you, yes to a drysuit.
