Like Herman, I was initially confused by scubawife's description, because my Scout is just like his.

I always thought the Scout was offered only as a very basic BC, and that once other things (such as pockets or additional weight pouches) were added, it became an Escape or other model.

Before their was an Escape BC, there was a Scout with pull out weight pockets.

The first version of the Scout was a simple vest with only rear weight pockets. Part # 7108 (This was my favorite BC until the stiletto came along....)

When we added a pull out weight system on it, it became part # 7109.

Confused yet???

Oh my. I had no idea my tank strap question would open such a can of worms. The only picture I have that shows the back is this http://divefile.com/images/P3231125.jpg And it's too small to really see it. ...but it is a cool pic of me diving heading out the wall through a cut in East End, GC. I'll try to get a photo of the front and back before I make any changes.

Sounds like mine's the #7108 - only the weight pockets alongside the tank, held there by the tank straps. Do you sell the pockets separately to change it from 7108 to 7109?

That's what I thought - thanks for the confirmation.

A good question always starts lots of conversation and we all learn from it.

A suggestion for you, any time I am about to dissamble something I am not totally familiar with it I shoot lots of digital pictures of it. Close ups are esp helpful, lots of different angles and half dissambled shots. This has save my butt several times. Their digital and free so why not.
