Well it would be if it wasn't so frightening that some people think that way
Actually, thats exactly why I think it is funny.

He doesn't know anything about them (CCR's), bases his stats on C D N N and is willing to spout his opinions to the online world.

Priceless

Caves don't interest me, since there are no shipwrecks in caves, so I really cannot help you with your cave issue.

As to my view of the comparative equipment risks associated with SCRs compared with O/C, I have not read anything in the media about SCR failures. Whether that makes them safe or not I cannot say.

Regarding CCRs, it seems fairly clear to anyone who is honest about the issue that CCRs have the highest risk of scuba equipment malfunction.

Regarding O/C, it seems fairly clear as well that this is the safest and most reliable form of scuba. O/C also has the highest limitations on depth and bottom time however, which are the most obvious drawbacks. But safety and reliability are not drawbacks of O/C.

CCRs have lots of cheerleaders, but that does not change reality. One by one, they get to individually face reality, ultimately.
So SCR is statistically safer? I looked on CDNN and could not find anything on SCR. I think I understand, thanks!

If it's on CDNN it's true.

i know a guy who got dsc at 40 ft with saft stop

I have nothing to contribute about CCRs, though I sure would like to try one someday. Same with tech diving, I'd love to get into that someday as well (already have the BP/w and long hose with apeks regs! ). As it is, I'm perfectly happy with recreational limits right now though, especially since I really don't NEED to buy any more gear at the moment! HAH!

What I really came here to say was: As much as I love diving, I don't think I'd want to die diving. The idea of knowing my death is imminent, and that I'm going to drown, doesn't sound very exciting!

Beats one alternative of lying in bed, drooling and relieving yourself without knowing your own name, sucking soup through a straw, while faintly remembering you went tech. diving once and didn't die that day....but you had O2, just like now!
