Allwet, that's one of the critical tasks you have to do when working with hydrophobic people in water. Distrct their attention to the enviroment and away from themselves. (see my original post on this)

Yup , I actually agree with ED on this one. I had that problem 20 years ago when I first learned to dive. Concentrating on something or some thing to do does help.I am now a instructor and can recognize this problem. Underwater water toys are an excellent distraction and teach skills at the same time.
