how is it like for a single female traveling to egypt by self? of course for diving and then there is to see some old rocks in oriented in a triangular matter and sandsurfing.....
No problem at all. Search for that over here and I think you'll get some other very positive replies :)

Divechk,

Not a problem! Done it several times. You will enjoy the attention from the Egyptian males :)they can be very direct regarding what they want... so you don't need to worry about being alone.

What is the score on medical certificates for diving? I have heard they will be requested by any centre who is adhering to the saftey regulations in Egypt.
Do they have to come from a specialist sports doctor or will a normal family doctor / GP do?
Thanks.

this is the first I have heard of this medical certificate... What is the deal with that?

Last time we dived at the Red Sea (Dahab) was 2007, but it was kind of the same as anywhere else -- that is, it depends on the dive operation.

Just in case, each of us just got a one-liner letter/certificate signed by our family doctor (U.S. Embassy doctor, actually, where we were stationed in Europe), stating that "This patient has no contraindications to scuba diving."

The dive operation (Sinai Divers) never asked to see the letters -- or maybe they did -- but I believe we did have to fill out the top part of the standard RSTC medical statement when we got there:
http://www.wrstc.com/downloads/RSTCMedStatementGeneric.pdf

It was the same drill with the other dive operation we used prior to that, Extra Divers in Makadi.

Be careful when/if you answer any of the questions "yes," because, like anywhere, the dive operation may require your doctor to specifically address the issue -- either in the signed letter, on on the bottom part of the statement. *edit* Just like Red Sea Shadow wrote. :D

If your family doctor isn't familiar with scuba contraindications, the RSTC statement gives an outline of condition that may be or are problems.

AHA! looks easy enough. I have never had to have a doc sign one. the carribiean just asks you to answer the questions, you say yes, you dont get wet.

I returned thismorning from a live aboard traveling south from Hurgada, Salem Express, Poseidon, some other wrecks and reefs and back in to Hurgada in 7 days.

No problem with Medical paperwork. No problem with bowls until the DM said something about our after meal "medicine."

It seems more rigid and more paperwork than the last few trips but still OK. All the tanks did have CDWS Stickers which was a nice change (Chamber of Diving and Water sports - Red Sea - Egypt) previously I had arrived to empty tanks with the valves off or tanks you would hold upside down to drain the water.

Iso is also catching on... I think Diving is getting a bit safer in Egypt.

Lots of Russians in town for the summer break.
