If you want slow, try GUE some time.
Hmmmmmm.....I'm not sure if I'm happy or sad to hear all the agencies suck about the same....what ever happened to customer satisfaction?????

i did mine by internet and it has been over 2 months. I am in S. Korea, not far from Australia. Mayeb SDI is better?

PADI - 2-3 weeks tops. I'm very happy with their turn-around time

GUE - less than 1 month

NSS-CDS LOL 3-4 months at least :)

None caused me any real concern or lost dive opportunities.

Got ow certified in july 04, received my card in mid september that year. Aow and nitrox took less than 2 weeks. I did however receive a second ow card last week with the july o4 date. This is after getting rescue and having pics sent in for deep, uw nav, drysuit, and equip specialist. Methinks their system still has a few bugs.

2 months ago by credit card I ordered a replacewment card and it is still not here. Cost AUS 50.00 which seems ridiculous. The lastr time I had a card coming I had to contact the main office to get the Asia office to respond. It took forever. This time I made an inquiry and have not received a response after a week. They had no hesitation to get the money....but they are sloooooooow. \

Are any of the other certifying places a bit more customer friendly. I have had my day with PADI

In the US, one can track the PADI card process online. However I note you are in Korea, or AUS??

Hard to say why PADI is so slow in your case, but in the US they replace/process and send them in generally under a month.

Have you tried CALLING them? In our world of digital communication, I find it amazing how many people are now fearfull of actually CALLING, and dealing with that generally poor customer service. However it IS real time, and generally better than waiting a month, and then complaining on an unrelated forum.

I was certified by NASDS years ago, and when my old card finally disintigrated, it only took 10 days to get the SSI replacement. I got an extra replacement card for only 10 bucks more.

Most of my certification cards are in divers hands at most in three weeks. The only time i have heard of delays with replacement cards was due to missing information. The certifications i have with SSI, cards took about 3 weeks to arrive aswell.

I have very good experiences dealing with PADI AU. Yes the cards take forever. they know that and work around it. You should contact a PADI rep and have them send you your certification history with their phone number and email if the dive operator wants to confirm. Or have your instructor look it up and print it out.

I did that for a student who lost his card and he was good to go diving elsewhere. Or the dive op can look it up themselves.

If you want to dive without your card, there are ways around it. If you just want the card in your hand, then we have to allow for the slow mailing systems and big business systems.

Yeah, the replacement cards are quite expensive, which is annoying. I believe it costs USD35, so 50 Aussie would be about right.

I got my IANTD Nitrox cert in Oz in May and still haven't received my card. I contacted my LDS there and they said all the cards come from IANTD Miami and generally they are a little slower than PADI anyway. I suspect the distance involved has something to do with it. Unfortunately, it turns out that they (IANTD) suffered some rather severe hurricane damage just after that and got flooded - all paperwork had to be resubmitted. Almost 5 months and no card...

Mel,

I hope you have your card by now. IANTD was sold, and it's headquarters has moved to Ottawa, Canada.

Of course, right about that time, the staff also had to be at and set up for DEMA.

I met the new owner, and most of the staff at DEMA, and I believe that customer service will improve dramatically in the next few weeks. Check the IANTD website for contact information, and look for new functionality regarding c-card matters!

If you are still having problems, contact me via PM.

Rob
