I've seen this referenced(and tried to search it to no avail), using either a test plug or a machined end piece. Does this work well? It seems like a great, sturdy idea for one. The test plug would make it VERY easy, but I'd be worried about leaks with repeated re-installation. I'd love to have a machined end cap, but I do not know a local machinist that could turn it for me...

interesting concept.......but how would you get the batteries thru that little hole??......they make tumble caps that thread into the valve threads that you could drill out to run the wire through.... but I still don't get how ya would get the electronics into the tank?

The ones I've heard talked about, they cut the neck off below the taper, then plug that end of the hole.
