Using a Sony NEX7 as Video Camera

I used the kit lens with the flat port most of the time in Komodo with a x10 diopter or the Inon lens on the front gives us flexibility to do macro and bigger stuff.
 
The kind of video you are shooting will determine the lens focal length. If you are shooting wrecks, you really need about 10-12mm (equiv 15-18mm). If it's fish/coral then you wouldn't need it so wide.
 
A friend has just purchased a NEX7 as is a very good videographer. I will report once he starts shooting
