I tried out my new-to-me BPW today. It seemed to work perfectly. When I got home, I put it in a tub full of water to rinse off the chlorine water. I dunked it and let it soak. When I went to take it out, I found that it had probably 2 cups (roughly) of water inside it. Is that normal? I assume it got in through the inflator hose. But, I would have thought water could not get in there without pressing one of the buttons on the inflator. ???

Was the water left over from the dive? That's not uncommon - I always have some water in mine. Or are you saying it was definitely dry inside before dunking in the tub.

It could have been from the dive. I don't know.

So, it would have gotten in when using the butt dump valve?

I have rarely had a dive that water did not get into the bladder of the wing...thus the reason you are supposed to rinse it inside as well as outside.

Plus the chlorine is a disinfectant......... Yes, I am a desperate person groping for silver linings.

I just dumped about a cup out myself from today's dives.

Chug
Almost always rinses the bladder.

What happens when you slightly break the water seal on your mask? Same thing with BCD bladder water leaks in.
