WHAT DIVE RELATED 'NEW YEARS RESOLUTIONS' DID YOU SET FOR 2008, and did you achieve them? (and what didn't work out?)
I DID: a. Complete Trimix; b. Complete IDC; c. Pass the IE; d. Make at least 10 coastal dives for fun.
I DID NOT: a. Dive the Oriskany again; b. Dive the Great Lakes.
There is always 2009.

DiverDurf, Sinbad and others who got OW certed in 2008: cheers!! me too! :lotsalove:

Yep, I didn't have any diving-related New Year's Resolutions in 2008 because at the start of last year I wasn't a diver. It took a conference in Croatia in August to give me the final push to get qualified at last (been there in 2007 and marvelled at the crystal-clear water while snorkelling, so I wasn't going to miss out on the diving this time round) and now I can't believe it took me so long to get round to it!

So, my diving goals for 2009:

1. Dive MORE!!!
2. Dive in the UK -- and not just in a swimming pool! All my OW dives have been overseas so far, but if I'm going to live up to 1. above, then I figure I'll need to start diving locally.
3. Get a dry-suit qualification (useful for 2.!) I know the specialisation cert isn't necessary, but if it's something I'm going to be doing a lot of then I may as well learn to do it well...
4. Do the Rescue Diver course.
5. Learn to take better underwater pictures!

What are others hoping to achieve this year?

It seemed like a long year of hard work but I made it and got my Divemaster rating.

Well, it wasn't a resolution, but we did go through the classes and get certified in 2008.

Considering it wasn't until around July that we even discussed it, that's not too bad. It's actually kind of funny; we'd been married for 28 years, and never mentioned to each other that we wanted to learn to scuba.

I started diving this summer, completed my OW and AOW certifications and did almost 30 dives. Goal this spring is to get my rescue certification and dive a bunch more.

Goals from 2007 for 2008:

1. Finish my DM -- check
2. Finish & pass DIR-F -- check
3. Do some Cave dives -- double check -- got my Full Cave cert
4. Dive in the South Pacific -- double check -- dove with dolphins and finally saw a Manta
5. Do "a number" of dives -- check -- 160 for the year
6. Added bonus -- Took 5thDX's Rec 3 and got a NAUI Heliox card
Didn't -- Dive the Big O (there is always 2010 -- don't have time this year!)

ToDo for 2009 -- IDC and IE by end of March -- More Caves -- Red Sea

Bonaire Silver Ambassador.
SSI Platinum Pro 5000 Certification.

I really didn't have any specific dive goals. But I wanted to make sure I got a complete set of gear, and to continue to enjoy the sport.

For 2009- I hope to log as many dives as I can. Become a world traveler starting with trips to Bonaire and Belize. And ending with a once in a lifetime trip to Fiji.

After that ... who knows.

Accomplished in 2008: Master Scuba Diver (PADI)
