I'd recommend the NAUI Scuba Diver package. It comes with a text book, DVDs, practice tests, a pen, a pencil, dive tables, stickers, etc. The DVDs are great! If you get it (SCUBA.com has great prices) I bet you won't wait 2 years till you get really wet:)
Try one of those intro to diving outings. They'll have you in a cool place doing cool things in about an hour...
 
Breathe slowly , don't use your hands to propel yourself , ALWAYS breathe (don't ever hold your breath , could cause lung rupture if you go up holding a breath inside), Use your legs with easy relaxed strokes. Enjoy diving as it is a really relaxing easy sport. You just need to get started by diving courses as it is your life at your end and you need to know what to do in all kind of situations under water.
