A couple of components required to fulfil the formula, having used a garden hose
and deciding that going the 15 miles back to the tap to switch off before swapping
the nozzle for the stationary sprinkler and then a brain to apply this system to scuba

Works real good for freeflows too

No training of useless things, no book
 
A teammate on deep bailout practice found that a kinky hose definitely prevents breathing after the first mouthful. Thankfully he could go back on the loop, only to repeat the problem. Was a MyFlex hose deciding that it liked to be kinked rather than work.
 
Other than a freeze up, if you properly maintain your Power Inflator you will reduce your chance of this problem by 99%.

1. Overhaul your power inflator each year
2. Properly clean and dry your power inflator after every dive, especially in salt water.

Do those 2 items and you are pretty much good to go.

yup - solution - don't use Miflex hoses where such a thing can kill you (example - stage cylinders).
