I don't see the excitement of working for any police deptment in any city or county. The pay is crap and the work is grotesque at times.

Just playing around...as usual. I don't make any worthwhile contributions, but every court needs a fool/jester to entertain the real players...
I agree that they probably opened the humor room for that purpose. However, have you been in there? Some of the stuff is chuckleworthy, but repostings of stuff that has flown around the net for the last 10 years isn't humor in my book. I love the stuff that comes out on the fly in the context of a thread...that, to me, is comedy. The original situational stuff that comes out on its own... All the random musings and off topic stuff we get going in some of these threads is the main reason I stay on the board. Most of it is scuba related...dead dog lift bags are at least 50% scuba related and, IMHO, a pretty funny mental image. When stuff goes too far and is legitimately offensive, moderation is the key...the mods come in and spank you and the world is a happy place again.Mo2vation once bubbled...
This was a lot more fun back on page one when O-ring was going to "...probably rig some bolt snaps to Fido and clip him off like a stage...."
Maybe that's why they opened the Humor room - to keep serious posts within the boundaries of good taste, to let silly boys romp, and to keep bitter, self-righteous authors away from the button pushers on this board.
Man....
Even the Mask room is more fun than this...

If we do, in the end the only ones who look stupid are the clowns left standing in the fringe (3 or 4 pages later) with their threats and "***"'s because that's the best take they have.
Threats and foul language (*** or not) are never fresh.

Who decides what's "legitimately offensive"? Great minds disagree, yes? Or half this thread wouldn't exist.
IMO, many of the posts here are stupid, juvenile, sick, or all of the above. They are a reflection of the authors' intelligence and character, among other things. But stupidity isn't a good reason for censorship. Give me the right to choose whether to read, respond or turn away.
(I do agree with the early decision to split the original thread in two. The first post deserved serious response, and wasn't getting it here.)
So, what's legitimately offensive? Reminds me of the old definition of pornography: I can't define it, but I know it when I see it.
