There are a lot of stupid people in the world. Stupid people always think they’re right and like to tell everybody about it because they’re “different” than everybody else.
You found yourself a post by a stupid person. Easy to see and easy to ignore.

I’m pretty sure he was getting trolled. Surely nobody is really diving that rig in the picture he posted.

If you’re side-mounting bailout/dil on any rebreather, are you putting air in both tanks? Of course not, so why is it any different if it’s on your back.
Now I'm confused. Are you saying you put 2 different mixes in each of your sm bailout bottles? I definitely do not do that. Same mix both bottles, deco or a travel or bottom gas in stages if needs to be different than my main dilout.
I don't know of many instructors teaching that either. You've got more experience than me, but not something I was ever taught or would do personally.

Uhh. Can that plane of yours make it over to france? The sh-t you see at caves in the Lot will make you shake your head and realize there are alot of people doing some really batsh-t crazy stuff on a regular basis.

You see it all over Europe.
Many Brits still love to strap 2x4s to their tanks to make them lighter in the water.
Some of those guys have done a ton of exploration though. A lot of (deep) line was laid in very interesting looking gear... and still is.

Ever had to bail out on air instead of 32%. It sucks.

What’s the downside of having 32 on the right side for your buddy or your bailout and air on the left side to run the rebreather? I assume you don’t dive the Choptima or at the very least aren't very good at it. :)

One of the biggest appeals to me of the Chop is that it gets added to the core thus gear and procedures are consistent. I don’t dive independent BM twins on OC so I don’t do it with the chop.

Manifolded different mixes is straight up BS and I hope no one actually does that. Different mixes in independent doubles makes a bit more sense but violates my desire for consistency and also seems to have a very limited depth range where the different FO2s are of any real benefit or more importantly, safe.

Serious question , what depth range do you use air and 32%?

I’ll keep my manifold (open) and sling a deco gas as needed.

I’m not the OP, I just retrieved the pic. My BS alarm went off the moment I saw the pic on FB; I think you have to fall for it to actually be trolled. My Florida man comment wasn’t about the manifolded different mixes in the FB pic, it was about you and the fella at Horizon with your independent 50s…any North East, Great Lakes, or West Coast Choptima divers using independent 50s with different mixes? If so who was your instructor?

France was the only country in Europe I've done some cave diving in. And the brits I was around were fairly run of the mill divers. i have seen some of the stuff they do back home in videos and its nutty, but it I chalk it up to them being focused on sump diving.

Seems like bad advice, but then again I’ve been wrong before.
has he stated any reason why would he do that? I can't see any goal which is not achieved in a better way by taking a little(or big) deco stage instead...

The post was deleted, but he said that if he had to BO he would swim up to MOD of the gas he switched to
