jcuilla2001 is on my dive team and rallyed against the A-hole as well as Lobstah...:thumb:

Dive team? Rallied? So let me get this straight...you needed to call in backup instead of answering my one question (which you still haven't answered)? Look at you guys here, what is this a cheerleader locker room?

Do you think it was more responsible to publically air this issue to all those against the sport of spearfishing instead of taking a more direct means: by calling up the dive shop and/or the FWC?

Me, I would have called the FWC followed by calling the dive shop to notify them of doing such in reaction to the non-compliance with the law. That way, things get resolved much quicker than here, and the anti-fishing groups like PETA and PEW TRUST do not get this photo in their hands to use against us spearfishermen and women, 99.99% of who abide by the laws and regulations with responsibility.

But you guys know better, I guess. If its one thing I learned from this scubaboard forum a long long time ago, is that you cannot change the opinion of the clique' bandwagon mindset, no matter how much logic or reasoning is used. Look at the Spearboard forum: not one person answered the valid questions I posed.

That is all. Photo is down because someone called the dive shop. Big surprise!

You edited before I could quote, but per your position that everyone here has no clue what they are talking about, you should learn the difference between corrosion and electrolysis.

http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/ta...pping-painting-steel-tanks-2.html#post1363564

Here, this might help.

KEY to METALS Articles: Corrosion of Zinc

I am well aware of the difference, are you? You don't even understand my response!!! Actually I am an aerospace engineer, so I'm sure if you want to discuss this in detail I'm sure I can educate you on just more than an internet link describing galvanic corrosion AND electrolysis. If so, do it in PMs as to not digress from the subject of this thread.

Thats the problem with you guys here, you argue semantics and miss the point completely. If I am wrong, then show me. Answer my earlier question.

If you are truly interested in your sport's public perception I would suggest removing an estimated 500,000lbs of dead fish from the forum's avatar's and censor such usernames as "kill'em & grill'em, etc. I am a life long underwater hunter but is a bit disconcerting IMO...

Point taken. Unfortunately I have no control of Spearboard. But I do agree with you in that sense.

As far as the cumulative nature of the avatars, as long as they do not exceed one day's rec limit, I don't see the problem. Stand-alone, they do not present enough material to be manipulated as illegal activity. I think Spearboard does a good job of managing that.

The picture was posted on the business website, and the posting here of the link and resultant outrage has had a quick and immediate effect. I would say that is a good thing. In my opinion, that picture stood as good a chance of ending up in the hands of the anti-spearo crowd even before these threads started, and now one has these as evidence of how the diving community feels about this.

You don't have to be a rocket scientist to see that.

Understood, but you don't have to be a rocket scientist to minimize the chance by simply picking up the phone and calling the dive shop. Tell them you're next call is to the FWC and I'd bet it would have been gone in minutes. Nobody wants that hassle. That's my only point. Earlier there were 4 threads stemming from this one.

I'm one of the guys who drops everything to make a public input federal fishery meeting every time they come around, and I gladly represent you and everyone else who believes in protecting spearfishing while conserving our resource based on sound science and data, and responsible practice. I take it seriously when these photos are used against us. One bad apple can most definitely spoil the whole bunch in this day and age. I seen it happen before to a friend of mine, who's photo was used without his permission against him.

Now I do respect the level of concern you all have. Shooting a nurse shark is just ridiculous and illegal. Beyond stupid, I agree. As one person put it regarding my reponses earlier...its all about the delivery. The same can be said here. One phone call would have been most effective and the least amount of risk.
