Given that there isn't a shop around that rents them, obviously not!

Not certain how or why that would be obvious to anyone.

I have a perfectly good SeaQuest Balance back inflate BCD that I put > 100 dives on.

Balance was by first BCD as well. I think I put 10 dives on it before selling it here on SB.

LOL

I was actually happy with it until I tried the BP/W.

Me too. I just happened to try a BP/W on dive 11.

I use a Seaquest Balance, also. I'm starting to refer to it as not my BC but my "stupid BC".
Example: "Could you please hand me my fins, gloves and stupid BC? Thank you."

I want a BP/W now that another dive boat passenger let me try his set-up out for a dive.
On that day, my BC's useless pocket with the useless zipper "self jettisoned" my rolled-up signal sausage twice.
This is the fourth time the zipper has worked itself open and released the sausage and the second time the sausage is lost (not found by a fellow diver).
In the past I have had to zip close fellow diver BC pockets at least four times right before they jump off a boat.
Yes, ready for a BP/W.:(

Regardless of what you end up with for a BC, here's a tip regarding pockets;

My drysuit pockets are fitted with a pair of bungee loops ~12 inches long. In other words if you opened empty pocket you would find inside a pair of bungee loops that are secured to the pocket. There are a couple ways to achieve this but commonly a grommet in the side of the pocket is used.

Everything that goes into the pocket is fitted with a bolt snap, SMB, spare mask, trauma shears, etc. Everything is clipped off to one of the bungee loops.

When I need something I can flip the entire contents of the pocket out and select the item I need and unclip it. Everything else remains attached and gets gathered up and shoved back into the pocket without fear of loosing anything.

The pocket was the one issue I always had - I never found it useful, too awkward, particularly to close with 5mm gloves on.

So I went with one of these https://www.divegearexpress.com/bcs/pockets.shtml#375 , clips in on the right side and comes with a loop that fits over two inch webbing so when you DO switch to a BP/W you can still use the thigh pocket :)

Thanks Tobin, I will use that bungee set-up.
Gcarter, I have one of those thigh pockets and like it a lot. I put my shears, tools and back-up light in it. It is a pocket that I can actually see into.
Interesting that I don't see people store small items on their arm. I'm thinking it is a good place for small slender items (light, line cutter).

If you can figure out a way to try diving with a rigid backplate/webbing harness/small singles wing system then I believe you will immediately understand why they are so much better performing for ALL diving, not just technical diving. The fact that you, likely a typical recreational diver, can't discern the performance by looking at one in a dive shop goes a long way towards explaining why terribly designed jacket BCs still dominate the market for new divers. Dive shop showrooms are not underwater, you see.....

Two easy-to-understand benefits are: 1) the rigid plate spreads out the point of contact between the cylinder and your back and provides great stability and coupling between cylinder and diver. 2) the webbing harness 'disappears' underwater, leaving the diver with a very nice lack of clutter on his chest/abdomen.

Am thinking of having all my amalgam dental filings replaced with depleted uranium slugs. Coukd shave another pound of lead off... easy.

Not to mention the advantage of a glow-in-the-dark smile.
