That trip definitely made us aware that on future trips we should consider asking. We're humble people and don't really think of ourselves as advanced divers. Yet compared with some of the divers we have observed at resorts like AKR, I guess we are advanced.
Haven't seen you dive, but I have read your posts. Ummm...you're advanced divers (compared to the rest of us "tidy bowl" divers) and there is nothing wrong with a little humility. The world would be a better place with a bit more of it.

Thanks for the report. We have enjoyed AKR twice, but it was many years ago. Some recent reports were less than glowing, but my sense was that the reviewer may have been a little bit "high maintenance"!

Your report echos our experience. When we were there, we were in the older bungalows, but we loved them.

We stayed at AKR in 2008 and again in January 2016 - the only thing that changed is AKR has expanded some - everything else is the same

I've been to Pablo's Place dive site with 3 different dive ops. They all called it the same. It's not too far from Texas. And Texas is called Texas cuz everything is bigger in Texas, right!? :)

Beyond Half Moon Bay??....ie beyond old Seuno's place??.....
Farther west - past West Bay around the point - technically it's on the south side...

Another thing I forgot to mention was the price of r/t airfare on Delta. We flew out of Raleigh/Durham, NC thru Atlanta. Once I book a destination I start watching airfare. I usually check it twice day which only takes a minute or so on a computer. The price was running right around $700 to $750. Then, what do you know, it drops one morning to $498 r/t. So I email the entire group and tell them to jump on it and we all did. A day later it's back up to $750. It's crazy how they price things but if you are patient and keep checking, now and then you can get a killer deal.

I was wondering if Pablo's Place was a name that just the folks at AK used but I did a search on Roatan dive sites and it appeared on several other dive site maps. It was just around the point. We actually dropped in and drifted down to the point before getting picked up.

It was truly a spectacular site.

I agree, Pablo's, Texas & Keyhole are all nice. Keyhole has a nice cave & Pablo's definitely a drift dive. Wind has to be low in order to get to these though.

If only Sol Air would have stayed around........:)......but TACA took care of that......:(....

Is TACA still in business?

I loved Anthony's Key! It was one of the better places we've been to and one of the few places where I allowed the DMs to play with my gear.
