I just bought a D4...you may already know this...I didn't and was disappointed. The computer will not function in free dive mode for 24 hours after being used in Dive mode. Apparently, Suunto thinks free diving within 24hrs of scuba diving will "greatly" increase DCS risk.
Also, If you use...
Thats exactly what happened. I called my instructor, stopped by the shop - dropped $45 bucks (price must have gone up - still a fair price) and my master diver card is on the way :o)
The requirements are as follows:
1, Instructor approval
2, complete 4 specialty courses
3, Diver Stress &...
I'm considering getting my Master Diver cert from SSI,
1, Does anyone know the qualifications for the SSI master diver cert?
[not to be confused with dive master or divecon].
2, Is there is a written test?
3, Is there a skills test or any check out dives?
I have my SSI advanced...
I was told once that TDI Adv nitrox cert allows fills up to 100% oxygen, where SSI Adv Nitrox will only certify one for fills to 90% oxygen. Any truth to this?
I've been on the fence between a OMS harness/wings vs DiveRite harness/wings since the spring.
I too have been pleased with the customer service experience I've had with DR. Locally, I see my DR rep, (Pete Nawrocky) on one of the local dive boats every year. I've been able to bounce 'DR gear...
I'm planning to buy a transpac because of its weight distribution qualities. Due to a bulging disc in my back, I need a harness that places more weight on my hips and less on my shoulders when I'm not in the water. However, I would prefer to use a s/s backplate to minimize the need for...
I'm hoping there is a OMS expert out there to field these questions for me.
1, What is the difference between the OMS IQ pac and the Comfort Harness Systems?
2, Is the only difference between the Comfort Harness System I and Comfort Harness System II the adjustable oblique strap...
I was wondering the same thing. I'm about to buy the Transpac but would really love to hear from someone who has tried the transplate. Specifically, is the transplate as effective at distributing the load to one's hips [instead of the shoulders] when the diver is not in the water?
Been to Lake Rawlings about 15 times in the last four years. It feels like Kevin absolutely goes out of his way to be rude... like he enjoys it. I met Earl Duplesis once, he seemed like a nice guy.
I went this year to finish up my rescue cert with Lynnhaven and vowed never to return to...
Here is a link to the leisurepro page that sells the boot:
XS Scuba 8. Tank Boot for Steel Tanks
I have this boot on my Worthington LP 121, 108 & 95. It works great and is specifically sold by XScuba for the XScuba Worthington line. It may or may not work on other 8" tanks, I don't know...
I took SSI nitrox with my local LDS, it did come with a DVD and tables. So, safe to say it should have for you. The material (book, tables, dvd) came as a preboxed set from SSI. Price was fixed as "suggested retail".
I took SSI stress & rescue with my local LDS, it did not come with a DVD...
Once you're certified as a "deep diver" or nitrox diver or ultimately an "Advanced Diver" its accepted as your dive level. I've been diving for almost 20yrs and I've never heard of anyone saying "your NAUI Advanced open water cert. doesn't count...you need a PADI or SSI or SDI advanced cert"...
Looking to go deeper / prolong my dive time
When I read that...hmmm...I thought we were talking about something all-together different. I started to respond with my usual "some of us are more genetically endowed than others speech" leading into Viagra and other pharmacological options - when I...
I own three Worthington LPs...90% of my dives are saltwater. I've never seen rust on any of them. (I do rinse them breifly with the hose after each dive).
