Sorry to leave you all hanging in the shallow end here, but it's been a busy month of dive classes for us. I'm very proud to announce our last son is now a certified OW diver with an awesome education and awareness. I sure wasn't that pulled together after finishing my OW an eon ago.
Also my...
Sorry it took so long for me to update you all. I have been hunting [and researching] another dive shop. Something I take much more seriously now!
I have talked to the owner of the "other" dive shop and presented him a letter in person. It is still up in the air as to wether or not I'll be...
I had one rated to 35' and it was "ok".. I used sealer to keep the mask from shifting too much because it didn't fit well. It was fine for "vacation" shots and clear water. It would be great to try one on first.
$300 sounds like a lot.. but the second option can cost much more. Most vacation...
I have several LDS I visit regularly. Even though it is unlikely he'll turn up in this neck of the woods.. I printed the info and pics of the perp and will give them to the owners. All of them are "family guys" [no pun intended] and will not take kindly to this kind of animal.
I may be a...
No OFFENCE at all taken Dale. I do agree that ONCE HE REALLY GETS EXPERIENCE as a diver he will need a challenge much of the time.. just his nature [also our oldest sons nature]. My issue is with him having less than 35 dives and 7 or more of those solo. He has no "training" for any kind of...
Sugar Pine Reservor: AKA Frozen Tundra in California!
I was finishing 3 specialty classes today [UW Photography leve 2, Altitude, and Peak Buoyancy] ... what does that say? LOL
It was a Fresh Friggin' Fridgid Reservor [sheeeesh] In the Tahoe National Forest! TRying to finally complete...
Only problem with it is:
Not many folks "younger" than me will "get it"
That was a 50's and 60's term.. even by the time I was a teen.. kids thought I was a "square" or "redneck" for knowing or using the term.
By the way... I was both! LOL
We have tons of bike shops in surrounding towns, I bet one of them will have one of these. I've never seen or heard of one before. I would prefer my own bike as I have a custom seat [for sensitive tushy] It also seems to take up less space and be easier to move. THANKS!
Now weight training...
I will talk to the shop owner in person and discuss their style VS that of the agency. No idea what will happen .. but at least I'm on track with priorities.
We have 5 kids [3/2] ranging from 13 [oops 14] to 29. Right now the one not certified is my biggest concern since he's a chip off the...
Wow.. reading all of these [and watching video] has been awesome! My greatest.. was my first month after being certified back in the 80's. The most heart stopping and swe inspiring moment.. and I can't even fathom anything that could be better.
A resident pod of Orca's.. surrounding a...
I would recomend more training if you are going. It may or may not be a problem for you... but is it really worth the risk? You have plenty of time for an AOW and/or Deep diver certification. If you have to ask what the difference is.. I advise a class. Money well spent even if you decide...
A no refund policy is stardard here for dive shops. Some will keep it on account for like purposes .. ie, class fess for another class dates fees only. [if notice was given early enough otherwise you forefit] Refunded equipment purchases as house funds for future purchases. Even the really good...
I do have to tell you.. letting go of the $$$$ was pretty hard to do at first. Then I asked myself what the kids lives or safety was worth.
The decision was simple after that! It just means It will take a LOT longer before we can take more classes.. But, well worth the wait!
To be fair.. I really kinda pushed him to dive. Before we married I was an active avid diver.. Saturday was our 10th Aniversary.. so I had waited a while so he wasn't left behind. As the kids [his and mine] got older they looked forward to diving. He only really got hooked once the kids began...
Well, I have decided NOT to continue with the shop.. no suprise there.
I have a shop some distance away.. that has good training. Although I think it's in part too late for hubby to get it though regular classes.
I sure wish Jim Lap taught classes in my state. I'm even toying taking a...
