    Cyklon question

Thanks to all who replied. The regulator is more of a back up at this point, and I don't really use it any more. I tried getting a different valve for my tank but they don't make one that fits a tand with the 7/8 thread neck. Maybe next time I get it serviced i will look into seeing if it can...

    The Diving Lifestyle (for Parents)

When your kids are a bit older, say 5 or 6, you can take them to Kids Sea Camp. It is an excellent program where you bring your kids and you can drop them off at 8:30 and pick them up at 3:30. The parents can dive all day and they have all kinds of activities for the kids. When your kids are 10...

    Cyklon question

I have an old Poseidon Cyklon regulator. It is probably from around 1978. I had it serviced and it still works great. It has a DIN 200 with a yoke adaptor. I usually use it with the yoke adaptor. Anyway, I recently inherited a steel high pressure tank with a DIN 300 valve. I originally wanted...

    OctoZ malfunction?

Looks like it is not a problem with the octoZ after all. It is a problem with the first stage intermediate pressure being too high, just as was suggested here. I was able to hook the reg up to an intermediate pressure gauge and it read about 160. So it is probably a high pressure seat in the...

    OctoZ malfunction?

I think that is definitely a possibility. It does seem to do that. The problem stops when I disconnect the octoZ, but maybe the delta 4 second stage can handle a higher intermediate pressure.. The octoZ also stops free flowing when I take a breath from the delta 4 second stage and starts again...

    OctoZ malfunction?

I bought a Zeagle stiletto with an octoZ about a year ago. I have taken it on several dive trips, probably 20 or 30 dives since I got it and it always worked fine. I am using it with an oceanic FDX10 / Delta4, also brand new. I am currently on a dive trip in the Bahamas, and it worked fine the...

    Good Dive Related Books

I'm surprised no one mentioned "The Silent World" by Jacques Cousteau. A must read for all divers,IMHO.

    Computer suggestions

Thanks for all the suggestions. I like the oceanic because it is less conservative than the Suunto. I know, I know, I should probably go by the more conservative one, and I usually do, But I look at it as having a second opinion from a different doctor instead of a different doc in the same...

    Computer suggestions

My Oceanic Versa Pro seems to have crapped out. It is at least 7 or 8 years old. Looking for suggestions for a new computer. I like to keep it simple, so I don't think I want air integrated. Would prefer a console mounted computer. I use a Suunto on my wrist as a backup. I do like the oceanic...

    Versa Pro

I have an Oceanic Versa Pro computer that seems to have crapped out. Not sure if there is anything I can do with it. I brought it on a trip and started it up, and it seemed fine. But when I tried to set it for nitrox, it started acting up. I dove with it and it did seem to record depth, but...

    Another newbie's 1st BC

I would also look at the Zeagle BC. I just got a Zeagle stiletto. It has 24# ditchable weights in the front and 20# on the tank. It has a 35# bladder. The Ranger is a little bigger with a 44# bladder and 30# ditchable weight in the front and 20# in the back. It looks a bit bulkier for travel...

Help me pick a dive light

One nice thing about the Princeton lights is their customer service. They just replaced 3 lights that I had bought years ago. No receipts needed, just sent the old ones in and they sent me new ones. Here is the story...

Galapagos Scuba Diving Fatality - February 12, 2010 - Eloise Gale

I am guessing that these are rhetorical questions, but if you are looking for answers with respect to the Galapagos, all of the answers to the above questions are no. A place like the Galapagos is not like a resort dive where you have a bunch of divers following a guide around a reef. When I...

    A Little Help Please

Mid 40's is pretty darn cold. You might want to look at cold water regulators. The Scubapro MK17/G250 is an environmentally sealed 1st stage and is said to be quite good. Another option is the Oceanic FDX10/Delta4. It is also an environmentally sealed 1st stage and is available currently at a...

    More thanks for Princeton Tec

I thought I would also share my experience with Princeton Tec. I had 3 Princeton Tec dive lights that I had bought over the years. I have had them for a long time, probably way more than 5 years. Well, I was having problems with them, one did not work at all and two would sometimes shut off...

Miflex hp hose on a oceanic EOS reg

I don't think it is possible to change the Eos to a standard Miflex hose. I have the Delta 4 and am currently in the process of changing it to a miflex hose, but I think the Eos uses a different coupler. Check out this link: http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/oceanic/270660-getting-rid-eos-swivel.html

    Diving With Sharks

I like big fish too (See my Avatar), but I agree with others to get a few dives under your belt before you go shark hunting. Now when you are ready, check out the Bahamas. They have a lot of places where you can go on a shark dive, although baiting and feeding sharks is somewhat controversial...

Galapagos Scuba Diving Fatality - February 12, 2010 - Eloise Gale

I have been to the Galapagos. Twice. The water temp is cold. Typically 60's or low 70's which means you need a thick wetsuit. Which means you will need a lot of weight to get down which a lot of warm water divers are not used to. Having a little difficulty on the check out dive is not uncommon...
