my apologies for a bumb steer i went to the gavin site and looked at the picture and they seem to be using something more substantial now though possibly just banana clips with some extra cover but like you say rs doenst seem to have them
better contact george he doesnt really like to deal in...
pug is right rs
lot of divers feel that the gold plated connectors G is so proud of are the crappiest thing about the gavin even though they seem to work ok
gold sounds impressivo but they are really made for hooking up stereos not conducting 30 amps the master-car ones submerged uses are...
have you made every effort to get one out of aul even if not for free maybe they might be willing to sell you one at cost since it was a failure of thier lite which created the problem
most of the companies making divelites work very hard to keep thier customers happy and will often even...
halcyon doesnt use a chrome plated brass fitting nor a sealcon they use a stainless version of the 50¢ hardware store brass tubing fitting and oring gland that they used to use and that most homebuilder and AUL use
however they didnt swtich to ss because anyting was wrong with the brass they...

cave and tech divers have alwasy regarded fueses and circuit breakers as being in the same category as burst disks on tanks additional failure points more likely to cause problems than avert them thats why you wont see them on any serious caving light
circuit breakers espec they are delicate...
what do you need helios specs for you dont have a helios you just need an oring not a bunch of stuff about some other light that may or may not be the same from the description and your buddy elsewhere it sounds like you need a 2-227 or maybe 2-226
or go to your hardware bearing or hydraulic...
just guessing alkalines can put out gasses which corrode brass some brass is more resistant than others and some stuff that looks like brass like beryliium copper is even better but i cant pretend to know what the ce light uses might also have been just a bad set of batteries or too deeply...
but remember you have fixed the immediate problem but not the cause which is probably wrong brass
take my advice and tin it and it wont happen again otherwise its just a matter of time until it does unless you want to polish the contacts before every dive
alkaline batteries can offgas stuff that is corosive to brass try cleaning off the battery cardle strip where it makes contact at both ends
even better tin th contact points on the brass strip with solder the higher % tin the better and silver doenst hurt they dont corrode the way brass does...
both the the new hal and the satek put the bulb right on the ballast so this is no longer a prob only the diverite still uses ext wires but they dont seem to have any ttrouble with it doing the noah thing
you got a little more chance of leakage on the new style focusables like the hal and sar...

just saw the word "gel" and thought the usual warning was in order
actaully the batt station prices are pretty reasonalbe for anyone who cant find a deal locally.
and oh canuck good tip about stacking...
they are not gel cells they are sla sealed lead acid real gel cels are much more expensive
very common sla size check local suppliers fire/emergency liting places all those light you see in hallways have slas in them since they are heavy and $ to ship makes snese to buy local but shop prices...
irritating
if it was crimped terminal end may be too knackered to reuse
id get a good noncorrosive lowresidue no cleanup flux pop out all the connectors as lal explianed and solder them all if one is bad someone prob doesnt know how to crimp and just a matter of time for the others...
not not if you mean the little trojan ribbed 10w litehead they wa bulbs all use dedicated ballasts matched to the bulb you cannot use a 18 w bulb on a 10w ballast or a 10w bulb on an 18 they wont even fit
even if you could find it "cheap" :-)
