After it is dark, I'll take some more photos.
Post man dropped off a box today.....First thoughts:
The pictures above still don't tell the story. This light is robust! The scale has it only 4 ounces (1/4 pound) less than the 3-C cell DRIS 500 (that weight is actually what 2 C-cell batteries weigh by themselves). The head is larger in diameter than the 500, the barrel diameter is significantly larger than the "C" size of the 500, and the tail on it is almost as big as the head is on the 500. NONE OF THIS IS A NEGATIVE!!!!! Its no cute little light, but a significant tool!
I love the anchor points on the tail, and the "stubby" shape. It will go well in a rigid goodman style handle as well as the soft handle DRIS has for it.
Beam is solid, with a modest spill. I've used the 500 and 1000 lumen lights here in the Great Lakes, and the punch is really desirable. Clear water folks may be "over lighted".
