Hi Diver Dan...my husband and I just back from the Plaze Bonaire Resort where the diving is just spectacular!!!!! It's very easy diving...calm, clear water and the reefs are right off shore. You will absolutely love it! I want to go back soon. I've been certified since June 2004 and have done 58 dives so far. It's become a passion of mine. I would advise you to rent a car (truck) so that you can do shore dives. We dove the salt pier (which you have to get permission to do and a DM goes with you). That was a blast! Make sure you don't miss the PINK salt ponds on your way over to the salt pier...fantastic!!! Nothing much else to do except dive. I think there's one casino on the island and some shops and some restaurants...but not much else...which was fine with us. But basically you'll probably want to do a 1 or 2 tank boat dive each morning and then in the afternoon take a drive along the coast...the dive sites are all labeled on small rocks along the roadside...just pull your truck in, gear up...and jump in. Try to do a night dive also. It's amazing! Have fun and write again when you get back. I'm jealous!!!
