Instead of everyone getting hot and bothered over "enviromentally safe" or not, why not look around for a product that might be a better idea?

At $10, it is 1/4 the cost of that other night light, and the Laser-Stik is about the same form factor and size as a chemical light stick.

The life of the 3 "76" button cells is 12 hours for the constant on version, around 20 hours for the flashing model.

I've been using a "LazerStik" since 1996, yes the very same one, without changing batteries. True, I've only done about 15 night dives, but I can attest that the battery life of my "constant on" light is better than the listed 12 hours. When mine finally dies, I'll replace the batteries, no muss, no fuss.
