Nothing wrong with asking that publications show good diving practices, however when people make statements that seem to equate disruption of a sand or loose sediment environment to "standing on live coral"... the argument has become ridiculous.

Do we have a new term now "Sand Nazi"?

It's a classic straw man argument. Misrepresent your opponent and then refute the false argument.

Hatul ... I don't know of any agency that promotes walking on the bottom ... if you want to go for a stroll, stay on shore.

And every agency trains its OW students to hold onto their mask and reg while giant striding off a boat. If you want to know why, try doing like the people in the picture sometime.

If these magazines are truly interested in promoting "safe diving", they need to set better examples ...

If you look at the first dive suits invented they walked on the bottom but then agian the helmet was a big brass pecie that weighed a ton

At the end of the day if people talk about it marketing worked good or bad it worked.

If you look at the first dive suits invented they walked on the bottom but then agian the helmet was a big brass pecie that weighed a ton

... but that was not scuba diving ... nor was it shown as a promotion for "safe" scuba practices in one of our industry's premier magazines ...

At the end of the day if people talk about it marketing worked good or bad it worked.

Not really ... it just throws doubt on the credibility of the magazine ...

As someone who has spent their entire career in marketing and advertising I can assure you that no one who works in the field ever thinks that way.
