And also I've heard plenty of stories of scuba thieves. The gear is generally worth a bit. Leaving keys in typical hiding places is just not my personal preference. Then again, if someone wanted to smash my windows...

I have used an old light housing to great effect. Also, you can use an old camera housing. We have a Super Sport Suprema 35mm camera that we got for $10 on Ebay. Good to 100'+ and big enough for keys and wallet.
