Notwithstanding all of the good information given in this thread your instructor should, as part of your introductory training, review in detail the gear you'll be using to dive and, during the pool training sessions, have you assemble and disassemble your gear several times.

Scuba diving, like every other sport/activity, has its own jargon. It can be daunting at first but take your time to make sure you really understand what's being taught. A good teacher will patiently explain things, don't be afraid to ask questions (there are no stupid questions) and don't accept a "don't worry about it" as an answer.

There's one in the PADI OW manual page 49.

I haven't got the manual yet =\! Something about they haven't got them in or something...hopefully i'll get it soon!!!

Also, which reg is your buddy going to grab when they run out of air? The one that is in your mouth. Why, because they know it is working. I run Hollis 212s on both and hang the primary around my neck and wrap the 7 foot hose reg around my neck and breath on it.

What?
So if they need to to use your air they have to grab the one that's in your mouth...?
What is the person gunna use...the spare octo?

Yes, you'd then need to use your spare octo's reg. Unless you opt to punch the other guy and take back your primary!

Hahahaha! Oh right...guess i'll learn that =]!
Fingers crossed that they both work =D!

No... you will do better than that. Some people cross their fingers but you will breath both regs on the surface before the dive to ensure they are both working correctly. You will also secure the octo properly and get in the habit of checking several times a dive to make sure it is where it is supposed to be when you really need it.
