seems that lots of us got hit by Frances, at least as far as losing
power was concerned.

If you live anywhere in Florida affected by Frances, how long were you without power?

Never lost power here in Hollywood, But the Hollywood police sure were busy with the streetlights out at the intersection of Sheridan and Park Rd writing tickets for all the accidents that were happening. (People need to remember that when turn signals are out, to treat them as 4 way stops).

We took a lot of bumps at home and work, but never lost power.

Cable and satellite didn't fare as well though.

Visting the family in Brandon, FL.

We were without power for just over 48 hours. Got it back today. I was hoping to do some diving while visting, but I obviously didn't get a chance. Maybe next time.

Lost power Saturday morning in Delray and still without it. FPL says by Thursday night they will have an estimate for recovery. In Lake Worth, the station had power until early Saturday morning and managed to get the station grid back up by Sunday. The majority of the City is still without power and no estimate of recovery time.

Hope all of you in FL are doing okay. Being a veteran of quite a few typhoons here in Guam, hope this makes you feel better about YOUR particular situation: last "big" typhoon, 1 1/2 years ago---11 days, no water; 5 weeks, no power; 4 months, no phone; 6 1/2 months, no cable TV. We've had a couple close calls in the last few months, but the power was only out a day or so, which isn't even enough to get concerned about here. (around 3 days is the "problem" threshhold....because that means pretty much whatever is in your refrigerator has to get thrown out....if you leave the door shut, it'll be more-or-less ok up to 3 days.)

We had no power for just over 2 days. With the clouds and the breeze it wasn't that bad.

The people 1 house away built new this year. We were a little envious when their generator kicked in. Guess that's a requirement for those houses built with hurricane windows which don't open. Well apparently these people have an extensive wine cellar (geez).

Here's a thought. Ya know the level of detail Brian Norcross gives during a storm ? There should be something similar following the progress of FPL. I'm sure the little guy at FPL was doing all he/she could, but they have a public relations / information sharing problem.

Frances was easy for us here.. just watch things blow around. Charley's aftermath, however, 72 hours.

My girlfriend is in Palm Beach Gardens. She lost power about noon on Saturday and as of now (almost 3pm Wednesday) she still doesnt have it back. Phone has been up and down, mostly up, and her local cell tower for AT&T was out of commission Sunday.
