I'm going back end of this summer with the family, last time was in 2010. They use only US currency now, yes?

Anything else? Rules? Do they still allow shore diving there? ;)

$1,000 fine for laying around at dive sites in a dry suit!

$1000 for laying around in a drysuit? That's terrible. I'll make sure I stand then.

    Hi Everyone,

I feel so much has changed. There is a stretch limo on island. We have folks racing to pass one another. Indeed a few new stores and restaurants. The dollar is our currency. Prices are higher BUT and here's the but..

We have the most pristine harbour. STINAPA continues to maintain the reefs and preserve our eco system. Conch is monitored and protected. The mangroves are thriving. Captain Don celebrated 50 years on Bonaire. And, still, Bonaire is the only place I really feel calm and peace. Welcome back soon, everyone.

A stretch limo? What? Can it only travel 50ft before it has to turn around to go the other way. ;)

When my buddy and I were there people would come up to us in bars and restaurants... "Are you the guys who are diving dry here this week?"

Yep, same experience here. Not to mention smart arse comments and sometimes even ridicule at dive sites. It's amazing how people really take interest in the kind of setup one chooses to use.

They staff at Buddy Dive remembers me though for it. Murph just shakes his head. LOL

I wouldn't argue with someones choice to dive dry. I understand the motivation, even somewhere super warm. Depending on the frequency and continuousness of your diving, you can still get quite cold in such warm water.

However I dive dry all year round at home, damned if I'm not going to enjoy the freedom of wearing basically nothing while diving. You're all lucky I keep my shorts on.

That brings up another topic...diving naked. There is absolutely, NO WAY, little Jason is going to be hanging there for those damn aggressive Damsils. I've been nipped on the leg and arm before....don't want to experience any more.

Then there is the issue with damaging the reef. Would feel pretty bad as it just drags along the bottom.
