I'm a Fish!
Hello

My name is Luichy Santini Manager of Scuba Dogs in Guanica, we have open this dive shop in the Hotel Copamarina on June 2022. Scuba Dogs had been serving Puerto Rico SINCE 2000, Scuba Dogs own another two dives shops in Puerto Rico, and is the leading entity with the biggest effort in Puerto Rico to clean our beaches and oceans. Scuba Dogs Offer Stay & Dive, in the hotel Copamarina, in Guanica, South of Puerto Rico, 2 hours from San Juan. Best Diving in the island. We do operate inside the hotel and depart from the hotel dock. shore diving is not available in the hotel since the closes reef is about 1.5 miles.

1204252_Solar-Performance-Puerto-Rico-The-Wall_3600x4200_111721-1.jpgThe Wall: An active tectonic plate running along 40 miles south of the island between 3 to 7 miles off the coastline makes up this world-class, epic dive site. Averaging 80’+ visibility, “The Wall” drops from around 50’ to over 2,000’ deep into the abyss of the pelagic zone. Expect to encounter large animal encounters like sharks and barracudas within this ever-growing ecosystem. This site is mainly for advanced and seasoned divers.

The Epicenter: A fissure opening caused by an earthquake in January 2020 gives “The Epicenter” it’s extraordinary name. About 50’-60’ deep in the oceanic floor is home to a great diversity and abundance of healthy coral reefs and tropical marine life such as yellowtail snappers, groupers, angels, rays, and turtles. This site is mainly for open water level and above certified divers.

Welcome to Scubaboard. Sometime in the future my wife & I may spend a winter month in P.R.
Questions--
--Are there any relatively inexpensive condos in your area?
--Casino(s) nearby?
--How is the shore diving in your area (we may rent a car)?
--On your boats, do you allow shell collecting (ie., taking live specimens)?
Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the info. Do you offer any 1 day diving packages from the cruise port in San Juan?

Luichy is the best. He taught me how to dive when I did my discover scuba diving with him. Highly recommended.

Guanica has some world class diving. If you are ever in Puerto Rico, do go diving with them. You’ll love it.

Might want to check where Guanica is. It would take your whole day in port to drive there and back from San Juan.

Sounds good. Thank you for the info!

Thank you, Luichy. I appreciate your thorough description of what you have to offer. I’ve never dived PR, but if looks like it will be on my bucket list now. What kind of water temps do you have? Is there a “best” time of year to be there? What about UW visibility… I assume it should be pretty good.

I’ll check out your website and am looking forward to “seeing” you here again.

I haven't dove with Luichy, but he isn't wrong. Guanica area is some of the best wall diving I have seen. The life is amazing as it isn't a major tourist area like Cozumel.
The big drawback to the area is lack of infrastructure. You have to fly into San Juan, rent a car and drive to the complete opposite side of the island. It isn't horrible, but it isn't easy either.

@ScubaDog I haven't been down there in several years. Are Kiko and Cashi still operating in the area?
