My wife and I just got back from Jamacia and she is terrified of big bodies of water, I just asked her if she would like to try snorkling in the shallows, of course it was a big no.
I was out about an hour when I felt a hand grab my leg and to my surprise, she was out there with me. we swam around looking at cuddle fish and such even got here into deeper waters a few days later.
By the end of our trip she was snorking with stingrays (debarbed of course) the point is she was thrilled and had a fantastic time and I didn't push her. I think a few more trips and she might try scuba.
