has anyone have any experience with "lavacore" or similiar garments worn over say, a 3/2 wetsuit? Wondering if the two layers are as warm as one, thicker layer. I've never worn a 4/3 wetsuit but have tried them on and I didn't like how inflexible most of them are.
See my mention of Lavacore in post #9 above. Lavacore is comfortable material and probably equivalent in warmth to something like 1.5 mm of neoprene. For diving in 72 F springs, I know I got chilled after an hour with the Lavacore vest underneath a 5/4 mm suit, so I switched out the Lavacore vest for a 3 mm neoprene vest. There is no free lunch: the Lavacore material may be comfortable, but it is not as warm as neoprene. As I mentioned in the post above, I might still use the old Lavacore vest underneath my 3/2 when temps are just a hair below what I consider pleasant for a long day of tropical diving.
