My first card was semi-handmade by John the Diver July 2, 1961. I thought that was pretty cool until I moved here and my neighbor has his first card hanging on his wall – 1958 signed by Mel Fisher.

No card from 1958 until I had to get one in 1975 so I could buy air and other life support equipment. I had an instructor friend, with a 3 digit instructor number, (#6_ _ from PADI who took pity on me and sent my name through with one of his classes so I could get a card. Still have it and you should see some of the looks I get when the younger dive shop owners, or resort operations, or live a boards DM's look at it.

I got my first card from my University PE Class -- dated 2/2/67.

My PADI instructor looked at it and said "I was two" when it was issued!
