Before efiling, the post offices would stay open until midnight on the 15th and grab the envelopes as people drove by and threw them at them. Now, the IRS will accept efiles until midnight on the 15th.

I remember that the post offices used to stay open late and you could just drive by and hand it to them....

but this year I noticed they announced they would close at 6pm and thought that was odd...

I guess it's because of E-filing like you said.

I didn't have one single individual tax return that was mailed this year. They were all efiled. Alabama still doesn't accept Corporate and Partnership efiling so those still had to be mailed

I owed money so I didn't e-file nothing. They got my money through the snail mail!
