I haven't tried these myself, as I need something warmer here, but I've read good things about these. I may pick up a set for my next trip to the Channel Islands. Very similar to the DUI 150 wt stuff, but a LOT less expensive.

These look great, but I don't view $114.95 as A LOT less expensive than $124?

LOL. I must have had the pricing of one of their other undergarments in my head, but hey, $9 is a tank fill (in some places).

Point taken! It's just the flux of dollars out of my pockets for scuba is so vast... :shakehead

I wear those as a second layer under my DiveRite 200w polartech UGs. VERY nice undergarments! They would work great by themselves in the warmer waters described. Highly recommended.

If the OP wants something lighter and cheaper, try Phil's Tilos undergarments at DiveSportsOnline. Nice, and inexpensive at $75, but too thin for SoCal's water. (IMO... too cold for me, at least!) Might be great in the warmer waters in question.

Been there, (KL, February, 70 degree water too cold for a 3mm wetsuit), done that (switched to my DCI trilam, and been hot in my DCI undergarment). Echo the REI suggestion for polartec. I have also used just REI or Patagonia mid-weight underwear (MTS mid-weight, Capilene 2) with no 'formal' DS undergarment. I did not find squeeze to be a problem with just the underwater.
