Liveaboard or land based in the Philippines - Any suggestions?

I appreciate all the great feedback!
We have settled in on the Philippine Siren for a 10 day trip.
Our plan is to spend a couple days in Hong Kong on the way out. Any suggestions on places to stay in Hong Kong?

1. Never ever walk in to any hotel as you will be grossly overcharged.
2. It will be expensive even for 3* one. Book on line or through an agent.
3. Hotels around Central on HK Island are the most expensive. Look for those near the MTR station(underground) eg Wan Chai, Tsim Sha Chui and Mong Kok.
