Saliva, soap or frog spit are all you should need in a mask, break the surface tension so droplets don't form. If you want to rinse the mask during the dive, just flood it. You should never fear flooding a mask. If you need to roll water around to clear it during a dive, try a different defogging method. I've used spit for 40 years and never forgot to bring it with me.
