Bill Schindler:
AOW first and then Nitrox. In fact, many agencies require this sequence.

Which agencies require this sequence? Most that I know of allow you to count your Ean toward AOW

Certified 2004 with 25 dives under my belt now. Thinking about moving on to AOW then Nitrox or maybe Nitrox first. Any recommendations or advice. Thanks, LH. :06:

If you can't do them together, you need to ask yourself what kind of diving you're going to be doing most. Around here, if the depth of the dive is over 60 ft (for dive charters), you can't go unless you are AOW certified. If thats the case there, and thats the kinda stuff you'll be doing, the AOW should be first.

If there are no restrictions and/or you'll be doing mainly shallow stuff, perhaps nitrox would be a good one to start with, assuming you'll get full use out of it. If your buoyancy is horrible, or you suck gas for some other reason, you'll likely burn up all the nitrox before you get to the air NDL, so it would only be a safer option, not a bottom time extender.
