Hi! I'm a novice diver with a $1000.00 budget. I am looking for recomendations for gear and gadgets. I would like gear that will grow with me (maybe nitrox compatible). I just moved to Miami and I plan on doing a lot of diving, but feel as though I would like my own stuff. Thanks for any contributions.

Some will say buy this or buy that. Would you buy a car because someone says it's the car for you? My point of view is put the money in the bank and go rent different brands and different models for a while. Try before you buy.

If your shop won't rent what they want to sell you, then find a new shop that will. I wrote this a while back, it might help.

He hit it on the nose, I have been diving 30yrs and demo it before buying is the way to go. I tried a mask in class today from a instructor friend and I think I will buy one always helps to drive it before you buy it.

BINGO !!! Give that diver a gear item of choice !!! If we all thought, then bought we'd not have a cellar full of gear we no longer use.

A grand will get you into some nice stuff... Our most popular package in the shop at that price range is a Zeagle & Aeris combo package that runs just below $1000 with an Aeris Atmos 2 Nitrox console. But just because most our customers like it - that doesn't guarantee that you will... First thing to figure out is your BC. There are so many different style choices there... Jacket? Back inflate? BP/Wing?

Regs are a bit easier... pretty much assume spend more - get better breathing... pretty easy.
