this costs money or am i reading it wrong?

define "this" ...

The scuba diving simulator itself is free and it comes with a set of basic (very basic) dive gear.

If you want better gear you can buy it using our virtual currency ... Bubble Credits (BC)

You can earn Bubble Credits, find them or buy them (via PayPal).

In the gaming industry this business model is called Free To Play - Micro Transactions (get the game for free then buy bigger - better weapons :D).

The cost for the online specialty classes for dive computers depends on the model of dive computer .... the cheapest class so far is 300BC and the most expensive is 1,300BC ... in good old US$ ... $3 to $12.5.
Another way to "pay" for the online classes is to enroll in the class using an "Activation Code" ..... some dive retailers are starting to offer our activation codes. Some of them are even giving you the activation at discounted price if you buy a dive computer from them. Their call.
