It was warm and clear when I did it too. I was wearing a t-shirt and shorts and wasn't cold at all.
 
I saw a FB thread on the "scuba diving" page (can't find it now, but grabbed it from my history) that has a little more information about this tragic incident: extremesportspro.com/?p=1490
 
I wonder what class is 4 days? AOW is 5 dives, but usually done in 2 days (from my exp.)
